Just think about it. In a week Harper and Flaherty will be presenting a budget that for all purposes will be as close as one can get to being “liberal” in scope as possible. Basically, Harper met with Ignatieff yesterday to get his stamp of approval. Doubtless, anything that Iggy would have strong feelings about (inclusion or exclusion) would influence Harper’s finishing touches on the budget. The budget will allow the government of Harper et al, to survive.
Now, Harper is being pressed to go Green. Obama is taking the lead here. Just a few months ago, Harper was warning Canadians that the Liberal plan was a recipe for disaster. Harper’s attacks using the media lead to a huge defeat for the Liberals. Now, just months later, Harper has to swallow crow and make like going green is the hope of the future and of the economy. And, he is doing so in a knee-jerk response to the next President of the USA.
It sucks to be Harper.
